75% of Devon web design companies break Google Webmaster Guidelines

DT

75% of the Devon web design companies break Google Webmaster Guidelines.

Our research has shown that around 75% of the Devon web design companies listed in Google for the key phrase "devon web design" break Google Webmaster Guidelines to get there.

This includes the use of:

Hidden text
Hidden links
Hiding text off the page
Keyword stuffing
Use of Frames
Cloaking or "sneaky" redirects
Multiple pages, subdomains or domains with substantially duplicate content.
"Doorway" pages created just for search engines
Link farms

To make matters worse, they are using their search position to claim that they are search engine experts while failing to mention that they are in fact cheating.

These amateurs are obviously misleading the public and are most probably breaking a number of laws regarding adverting and trading standards.

I am sure all professional web designers frown on such practices and would wish to clean up our industry. To this end Integralvision is taking steps to draw attention to these companies. These will include:

Reporting them to Google
Reporting them to Trade Associations (local and national)
Reporting them to Trading Standards
Reporting them to Business Link
Reporting them to their clients
Publishing their company names on the Web along with screenshots of their methods

There will an announcement shortly regarding a new website we are developing to focus on these issues. If you wish to be kept informed on the launch, please email dwd@integralvision.co.uk to be added to our mailing list.
